Why we do this:
The pictures say 'it clearly - we are losing history. Far beyond losing something sacred ,
beyond the beauty of the markers, in many cases the person underneath may go forever
more unknown. For some, this is the last evidence of a life lived. We are losing a part of our
history and a remarkable source of art and inspiration. The workmanship on these old
stones is beautiful. The script, detail and pride that was taken in what was to serve as a
lasting remembrance to someone who was once loved dearly....
....so some of us feel we can make a small contribution by recording what is written on
the stones - and photographing the stones themselves. So that maybe in yet another
hundred years - if some future generation is interested - the markers of their ancestor's
existence will be there.
